Did I firmly believe, as millions say they do, that the knowledge and practice of religion in this life influences destiny in another, religion would mean to me everthing.  I would cast away earthly enjoyments, earthly cares, and earthly thoughts as worthless.  Religion would be my first waking thought and my last image before sleep sank me into unconsciousness.  I would look at one soul gained in heaven worth a life of suffering.  Earthly consequences should never keep my hand from being active in the cause of the Gospel nor seal my lips.  I would strive to look upon eternity alone and on immortal souls around me soon to be everlastingly happy or everlastingly miserable.    I would go into the world and preach, and my test would be Matthew 16:26, KJV, “What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul?”

Growing up as a Florida State and Kentucky fan, I hate the Gators on the field, but this is a great article about Tim Tebow in the NY Times.  It certainly appears that his faith in Jesus is showing itself in his actions.

God’s Word to man was originally written in Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek.  This is the infallible word.  It has, though, been passed down through generations through men.  As such, every single translation contains error (these errors are always minor — sometimes even spelling mistakes — and not theological) and, thus, can’t claim infallibility.  Short of reading the original texts (which we can’t), it is important to read various English translations to truly understand the depth and meaning of particular passages.

Even though some non-Christians do venture into our churches, there are even more outside.  At an all-university campus lecture series, I saw a clear example of the need to go to the people.  Several hundred students turned out for each of the evening lectures in the large university auditorium.  That was wonderful.  But we saw the need to schedule meetings in the livings units — the sororities, fraternities, and dormitories. When we did, an additional thirteen hundred non-Christian students heard the gospel message at the smaller meetings!  Very few of these students in the smaller groups could have been persuaded to attend the main lectures.  But in their own units, they listened willingly.  And some of them become Christians.

Evangelizing all nations will only occur when God’s people witness as individuals and stop thinking that people are only saved on Sunday.

Oprah’s belief that there are many paths to heaven is, sadly, not alone.  So many people that I talk to are acceptable of the gospel for them but are unwilling to accept that it is the only path to all people.  The Bible, though, makes it clear that Jesus thought that there was only one path: through Him (John 14:6).  As believers, we don’t have the luxory believing in multiple paths to heaven because of the clear teachings of Jesus.
